August 16, 1944
The City Council met in reguinr session on the above date,
!,`ayor T'T. T. Smith presiding, the following ald, rmen and officers were
present: Aldrrmen9 2. E, Buchholz, 1. R. Chastain, C. C. Hezilton,
;'. H. Hoffman, jr, ands. 7. 7il cox. Officers ° V. L. Cntes, secretary:
also 3. H. Cruce, mFnnger of city utilities. ^nd. 1. 7. 'Turin, acting
city attorney.
Cn motion of T. A. Ch.-=st2in, minutes of the .previous meeting were
approved.
On the motion of 7. 7. 7uchholz oll npyrovel accounts 7ere ordered
• - paid. .
:en ordinance definin hthe,_.duties=ofi city-Ignsger, conforming to the
General Laws if the State of Texas, permitting City Councils of
Cities of 2500 population to desiEinnte n person as City Manager,
`,'ra,s presented b-y crdindncenebmmitteeman T. R. Chasta..in, who moved
that the same be re,gd in full. The motion was seconded by Alderman
C: C. Hamilton, <=nd wFs carried unanimously.
The ordinance was read infull. ( See some on pages 148.A, 71 C, )

Alderman Chastain moved- that the said ordinance be passed to its
second reading. The Motion was seconded by Alderman 7H. 7. Hoffman, Jr.
and was pazsed by the following vote: Ayes--3uchholz, Chastain, Hamil-
ton, Hoffmann, and 7ilcox. 'Toes --none,
yayor Smith appointed Aldermen 7uchholz and Chastain as a committee
to study the said ordinance, and make such recommendations as to
the deem best regarding same.
The Council heard an interesting report from ?Tanager of utilities
after which it adjounrned.
