HomeMy WebLinkAboutStandPipeJosey014Georgetown's fire
department has
preserved much of its
history. The building
housing city hall, the
fire department, and
the calaboose was built
in 1892 around the
large standpipe that
held the city's water
supply. The process of
removing the standpipe
was underway in this
early-1960s photograph.
In addition to its
preservation of a
number of historic
photographs, the
Georgetown Fire
Department has
restored its first
pumper truck, "Old
Betsy," originally
purchased in 1922.
