AGENDA ITEM COVER SHEET
SUBJECT:
Consideration and possible action concerning the purchase of one (1)
Tymco Street Sweeper and two (2) Vibromax asphalt paving rollers as part of
the HGAC contract.
ITEM SUMMARY:
The paving rollers the Street Department is presently using are in need
of replacement. The breakdown time has caused excessive rental fees that
could otherwise be used for maintenance. The two rollers were due for
replacement in next year's Internal Service Fund. The funding for these
rollers will be made available with :4 -cent sales tax funds. The money will
be refunded in the 2003/2004 Internal Service Fund budget.
The sweeper purchase is to replace an older Johnston sweeper that is in
need of numerous mechanical repairs. Finding parts for this sweeper, as well
as finding a company to assist in trouble shooting mechanical failures, has
become a challenge. Because of the amount of time this sweeper stays broken
down, staff has determined that replacement of this unit with a higher
quality Tymco would be a significant benefit to the City. The new sweeper
will also be purchased with funds made available by the 'A cent sales tax.
The sweeper will be used primarily in the newer sections of Georgetown on a
continuous schedule.
