HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda CC 09.16.1986 SpecialSeptember 16, 1986 The City Council of the City of Georgetown met in Special Session on the above date at 7:00 PM with Mayor Jim Colbert presiding. The following council members and officials were present: Council Member Eb C. Girvin, Council Member Joan King, Council Member Marvin E. Lackey, Council Member Bill Connor, Council Member William C. Shell, City Secretary Pat Caballero, City Manager R. Bob Gaylor, Director of Public Works Allyn Moore, Development and Planning Director Ed Barry, and Police Chief Hugh Anderson III. 1. WATER DISCUSSION - GROUND WATER PLANT Motion by Shell and second by King to adopt option number two of three options presented by John Cook of Freese and Nichols for the design of six million gallon per day ground water plant. The configuration of such plant includes chlorination, water softening and is designed so that ultra -violet water treatment capacity could be added later. Motion carried by unanimous vote. 2. SOUTHFORK & PARK INTERCEPTORS BID APPROVALS The City of Georgetown received bids for the construction of the Park Lift Station and associated gravity and force sewer mains. Listed below are the three lowest bids: Bay Maintenance $ 539771.00 W. M. Construction, Inc. 562602.50 Parker & Rogers Const., Co. 623878.00 Motion by Connor and second by Shell to award the bid to Bay Maintenance for $539,771.00 subject to the following: 1) Approval of the bid by the City Attorney. 2) The completion, execution, and delivery to the city of the Tri -Tract Credit Agreement and other related agreements. Motion carried by unanimous vote. The City of Georgetown received bids for the construction of the South Fork Interceptor. Listed below are the three lowest bids: 9/16/86 special council meeting page 1 of 3 Pat Canion Excavating $ 670275.00 Parker & Rogers Construction Co. 687659.00 Ranger Contracting 741364.00 Motion by Connor and second by King to award the bid to Pat Canion Excavating for $670,275.00 subject to the following: 1) Approval of the bid by the City Attorney. 2) The completion, execution, and delivery to the city of the Tri -Tract Credit Agreement and other related agreements. Motion carried by unanimous vote. 3. M.R.T. LAND PURCHASE - STOMP/GAYLOR Motion by Connor and second by King to authorize the purchase of approximately 14.049 acres of land located at the end of Maple Street from the M.K.T. Railroad and authorize the Mayor to sign a land purchase agreement subject to the following: 1) That agreement is approved by the City Attorney. 2) That title to the property have a commitment of title insurance that is satisfactory to the City Attorney. Motion carried by unanimous vote. 4. PUBLIC WORKS BUILDING BID APPROVAL The City of Georgetown received bids for the construction of (A) Central Warehouse Building B) Public Works Facility, (C) Public Works Administration Building and (D) Vehicle Shop. Listed below are the three lowest bids: Gila Construction C.L.M Construction Baird/Williams Const. Buildings A & B 218665.00 225801.00 226700.00 Buildings A, B & D 329185.00 346689.00 346400.00 Buildings A, B, C & D 382458.00 403969.00 407700.00 Motion by Connor and second by King to award the bid to Gila Construction for buildings A, B and D for a total cost of $329,185.00. Motion carried by unanimous vote. 5. RISK MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP The council held a workshop with the Joseph Ivy Company concerning risk management for the City of Georgetown. 6. EXECUTIVE SESSION UNDER ART. 6252-17 SEC. 2 (E) LITIGATION Mayor Colbert announced that the council would meet in executive session under Art. 6252-17 9/16/86 special council meeting page 2 of 3 Section 2 (e) Litigation. After the executive session the meeting was again open to the public. ADJOURN Motion by Connor and second by Lackey to adjourn. Motion carried by unanimous vote.
