HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 052725-5.C - Canvassing the Elections correcting scrivener's errorsRESOLUTION NO. 052725-5.0 A RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE ELECTION RETURNS AND DECLARING THE ELECTION RESULTS OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN GENERAL ELECTION HELD ON MAY 3, 2025, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING COUNCIL MEMBERS FOR DISTRICTS 3,4, AND 7 TO BE OFFICIAL WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas ordered a general election to be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, pursuant to Resolution No. 021125-5.13, for the purpose of electing the Councilmembers for Districts 3, 4, and 7; WHEREAS, on May 3, 2025, an election was held for the following: WHEREAS, the election officers who held said election have prepared the returns of the results thereof, and the returns have been delivered to the City Council; and WHEREAS, the official canvass of the returns of the election showed the following results: FOR COUNCIL MEMBER, DISTRICT 3 Ben Butler 827 66.51% Joe Orsack 415 33.49% Total Votes:* 1,247 100.00% * Total Votes include over/under votes. FOR COUNCIL MEMBER, DISTRICT 4 Ron Garland 574 65.83% Dave Richardson 299 34.17% Total Votes:* 876 100.00% * Total Votes include over/under votes. FOR COUNCIL MEMBER, DISTRICT 7 Ben Stewart Unopposed NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN TEXAS, THAT: SECTION I. All of the findings contained in the preamble of this Resolution are found to be true and adopted as findings of fact. SECTION II. The City Council officially finds and determines that the election was duly called; that proper notice of the election was given in accordance with law; that the election was held in accordance with law; that returns of the results of the election have been made and delivered, and that the City Council has canvassed the returns, all in accordance with the law and the resolution calling the election. The official canvass of the returns, duly and legally made, reflects the following: Ben Butler was duly elected as Councilmember, District 3. Ron Garland was duly elected as Councilmember, District 4. Ben Stewart was duly elected as Councilmember, District 7. SECTION IV. Therefore, the Councilmembers shall be as follows: OFFICE MAYOR SCHROEDER DISTRICT 1 COUNCIL MEMBER PARR DISTRICT 2 COUNCIL MEMBER HOOD DISTRICT 3 COUNCIL BEN BUTLER DISTRICT 4 COUNCIL MEMBER GARLAND DISTRICT 5 COUNCIL MEMBER PITTS DISTRICT 6 COUNCIL MEMBER FRENCH DISTRICT 7 COUNCIL MEMBER STEWART DATE TERM EXPIRES MAY 2026 MAY 2027 MAY 2026 MAY 2028 MAY 2028 MAY 2027 MAY 2026 MAY 2028 SECTION V. It is further found and determined that in accordance with the order of this governing body, the City Secretary posted written notice of the date, place and subject of this meeting on the bulletin board located outside of City Hall, a place convenient and readily accessible to the general public, and said notice was posted and remained posted continuously for at least 72 hours preceding the scheduled time of the meeting. A copy of the posting shall be attached to the minutes of this meeting and shall be made a part thereof for all intents and purposes. PASSED AND.APPRq)VED on this 270, day of May 2025.
