HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 82-10-A - Adopting Building Inspection Codes and Enforcement312 g,�, AN ORDINANCE TO AbCjP'- VARIOUS STANDARD CODES RELATING TO INSPECTION i CTIVITIES OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN AND EN ORCEMENT OF BUILDING PROVISIONS AS PROVIDED IN SAID CODES. Section 1: WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council of the City of Georgetown, to adopt, in all respects, the various Standard Codes relating to building, fire prevention, gas, housing, mechanical, plumbing and swimming pools and WHEREAS, the adoption of these Codes is done to facilitate proper inspection activities by the City of Georgetown, relating to construction and to maintenance of buildings within the corporate limits of said town and relating to public safety, health and general welfare; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN that the following Codes ae hereby adopted by reference as though they were copied herein fully: Standard Building Code - 1982 Edition Standard Code for the Elimination or Repair of Unsafe Buildings - 1977 Edition Standard Fire Prevention Code - 1982 Edition Standard Housing Code -• 1982 Edition Standard Mechanical Code - 1982 Edition Standard Plumbing Code - 1982 .Zdition Standard Swimming Fool Code - 1932 Edition Section 2: BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN THAT any matters in said Codes which are contrary eo existing Ordinances of the City shall prevail and that the Ordinance entitled Standard Building Code - 1976, Standard Fire Prevention Code - 1976, Standard Housing Code - 1974, Standard Plumbing Code - 1975, Standard Swimming Pool Code - 1976, Standard Mechanical Code - 1975, Standard Gas Code - 1975, are hereby repealed and, to that extent any existing Ordinances to the contrary are hereby repealed in that respect only. Section 3: BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED BY Tr F CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN that within said Codes when reference is made to the duties of certain officials named therein that designated official in the City of Georgetown, who has duties corresponding to those of the named official in said Code, shall be deemed to be the responsible official insofar as enforcing the provisions of said Code are concerned. Section 4: BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN that this Ord-,nance shall take effect and be n force from and after its passage, the public welfare requiring it, thereby making this an emergency. Section 5: BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that copies of each of said codes are attached to this Ordinance and incorporated by reference as if set out word for word. Section 6: BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that to facilitate in the record keeping that the Mayor may sign memoranda Ordinances so that notice of the passage of this Ordinance can be given by placing such memoranda Ordinance with the appropriate code.
