AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE ABANDONMENT AND
CLOSING OF CERTAIN STREETS WHICH LIE WITHIN
THE BURNHAM ADDITION CITY.OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS:
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GEORGETOWN. TEXAS:
1. The City Council makes the following findings a fact:
A. That all of those portions of the streets which lie in
Burnham Addition to the City of Georgetown Williamson County, Texas and which
are described hereinafter by metes and bounds have never been used as streets;
B. That it is for the benefit of the general public and par-
ticularly for the benefits of the Citizens of Georgetown, Texas to their best
interest for the hereinafter described portions of said streets in said Addi-

tion to be vacated, abandoned and closed;
C. That the only abutting property owner on said portions of
said streets to'�be vacated, abandoned and closed is J. W. Garrett and said
J. W. Garrett has petioned the City of Georgetown to vacate, abandon and close
said streets;
D. The portions of said streets to be so vacated, abandoned
and closed are described by metes and bounds on the field notes prepared by
W. F. Forest and shown on Exhibit "A", attached hereto and made a part hereof.
2. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Ordinance that all of those
portions of said streets in said subdivision hereinabove described shall be
and the same is hereby VACATED, ABANDONED AND CLOSED. The Mayor of the City
of Georgetown, Texas shall be and is hereby authorized to execute a conveyance
of the abandoned streets to J. W; Garrett, the adjoining property owner, by a
deed conveying all of the rights, titles, and interests in and to said property
vested in the City of Georgetown.
3. The enactment of this ordinance being necessary to the immediate
preservation of the public business and to provide for the usual daily operation
of a municipal government, it is declared to be an emergency measure, which
shall have and take effect following its present reading and adoption.
READ, PASSED AND ADOPTED by unanimous vote this 9th day of May, 1966.

AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE AGREEMENT DATED MAY 9,
1966 BETWEEN THE STATE OF TEXAS AND CITY OF GEORGETOWN
FOR THE INSTALLATION, CONSTRUCTION, EXISTENCE, USE
OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF A HIGHWAY ILLUMINATION
PROJECT AT I.H. 35 BETWEEN THE NORTH CITY LIMIT AND THE
SOUTH CITY LIMIT IN THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN; PROVIDING FOR THE
EXECUTION OF SAID AGREEMENT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN:
Section 1. That the certain agreement dated May 9, 1966 between the
State of Texas and the City of Georgetown for the installation, construction,
existence, use, operation and maintenance of certain highway illumination lo-
cated at I.H. 35 between the north city limit and the south city limit in
the City of Georgetown be, and the same is, hereby approved; and that Jay C.
Sloan is hereby authorized to execute said agreement on behalf of the City of
Georgetown and to transmit the same to the State of Texas for appropriate action.
Section 2. The fact that the improvements contemplated under the above
mentioned agreement are needed, creates an emergency which for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, health, safety and general welfare requires
that this Ordinance take effect immediately from and after its passage and it
is accordingly so ordained.
