The mission of the Georgetown Convention and Visitors Bureau is to increase the economic impact on
Georgetown by promoting the community as a tourist and meeting destination.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Stephanie Blanck, Rachel Cummins, Blake Triplet, Jim Wilson,
Karen Soeffker, Daniel Orozco
MEMBERS ABSENT: Christy Fisher
STAFF PRESENT: Kendall Buechler, Tourism Coordinator
GUEST: Christopher De Los Santos (Williamson County Sun)
2. Discussion and possible action to approve a Hotel Occupancy and Meeting Grant for the
Texas Academy of General Dentistry Lonestar Dental Meeting (September 13-18, 2023) -

Based upon the number of room nights projected at the Sheraton Austin Georgetown Hotel &
Conference Center the group is eligible for up to $1,819.76. Grant funds will be used to
offset some of the expenses of the conference. This meeting will be held in September which
is currently a low occupancy month for conferences. Also, we are competing with new
Kalahari Resort in Round Rock for this conference.
Motion by Blanck, second by Wilson to approve the grant application for a maximum

Based upon the number of room nights projected at the Sheraton Austin Georgetown Hotel
Conference Center the group is eligible for up to $1,865.54. Grant funds will be used to
offset some of the expenses of the conference.

4. Discussion and possible action to approve a Hotel Occupancy and Meeting Grant for the
Texas State Historical Association Annual Meeting (February 28, 2024) - Kendall Buechler,
Tourism Coordinator
Based upon the number of room nights projected at the Sheraton Austin Georgetown Hotel &
Conference Center the group is eligible for up to $4,331.25 (maximum grant reimbursement
is $2,500). Grant funds will be used to offset some of the expenses of the conference and/or
for transportation to and from the Square as well as a history tour. Georgetown is competing
with College Station for this conference.
Motion by Orozco, second by Wilson to approve the grant application for a maximum
reimbursement of $2,500.00.
