Convention & Visitor Bureau Board
City of Georgetown, Texas
September 9, 2021
The mission of the Georgetown Convention and Visitors Bureau is to increase the economic impact on
Georgetown by promoting the community as a tourist and meeting destination.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Stephanie Blanck, Rachel Cummins, Christy Fisher,
Blake Triplet, Jim Wilson
MEMBERS ABSENT: Karen Soeffker

Legislative Regular Session
2. Discussion and possible action regarding approval of the August 12, 2021 meeting minutes -

Motion by Fisher, second by Triplet to approve the August 12 meeting minutes.
Approved 5-0
3. UIL State Soccer Tournament Hotel Occupancy Grant Follow-up Report Presentation - Cari
Miller, CVB Tourism Manager

4. Discussion and possible action to approve a Hotel Conference and Meeting Grant for the
Texas Association of Student Financial Aid Administration (10/4-8/21) - Cari Miller, CVB
Tourism Manager
Based upon the number of room nights projected at the Sheraton Austin Georgetown Hotel &
Conference Center the group is eligible for up to $2,346. Grant funds will be used to offset a
portion of the expenses of the conference.
Motion by Blanck, second by Cummins to approve the grant application for a maximum
reimbursement of $2,300.00.
Approved 4-0 (Triplet abstained)
5. Discussion and possible action to approve a Hotel Conference and Meeting Grant for the
Texas Radiological Society (2/21-27/23) - Cari Miller, CVB Tourism Manager
Based upon the number of room nights projected at the Sheraton Austin Georgetown Hotel &
Conference Center the group is eligible for the maximum grant amount of $2,500. Grant
funds will be used to offset a portion of the expenses of the conference.
Motion by Fisher, second by Cummins to approve the grant application for a maximum
reimbursement of $2,500.00.
Approved 4-0 (Triplet abstained)
6. Staff Report - Cari Miller, Tourism Manager
• Introduced Rachel White as the new Group Sales Coordinator
• May – August Hotel Occupancy Tax revenue is 14% higher that May – August 2019
• POPPtoberfest October 1-3rd
o Dysfunction Junction will be Friday night
o No Parade
o Car Show Saturday morning on Austin Ave
o Music will be on three stages with main stage at 7th and Austin Ave
o Saturday night: Brave Combo, Two Tons of Steel, and Dale Watson
o Pet Parade on Sunday
o Shuttle from First Baptist on Saturday only
