The Main Street Advisory Board of the City of Georgetown, Texas, met on Friday , February 27, 2004.
Board Members Present:
Bryant Boyd, chair; Joshua McClure, vice-chair;
Bob Weimer, secretary; Liz Atherton; Ellie Skross
Board Members Absent:
Nancy Rister
Staff Present:
Shelly Hargrove, Main Street Manager; Laurie Brewer, City Controller; Mark Thomas, EDC Director

Regular Meeting
Board Chair Boyd, called the meeting to order at 8:10 a.m. He recognized new Board Member
Tim Thompson and guests Assistant Finance Director Laurie Brewer and
EDC Director Mark Thomas.
Laurie gave a brief explanation of the city request for information from Board Members.
The request asked Main Street Board Members to define areas of importance that the Board has
included in goal setting and in the Boards Plan of Work for the coming year.
Mark Thomas asked each board member to define his or her definition of economic
development. Each member answered and a positive discussion ensued. Mark then went on to
explain what he has accomplished and what he sees as his goals for the near and not so distant
future. Mark indicated that communication and cooperation are key to our growth and success.
He reminded us that any information brought from all surveys has some good ideas that we can
act on. Main Street must continue to take a proactive approach to our work plan as we present
ideas to Council or other boards.
Mark stated that Georgetown is open for business and that fact must be communicated.
He will develop a quality growth plan and will set goals for growth. Bryant stated we need to
inventory existing businesses and determine what businesses we need to bring to Georgetown.
Last meeting minutes were read and approval moved by Ellie and seconded by Bob.
Staff Report, Shelly Hargrove - Shelly provided a budget report. A short discussion ensued with
Shelly offering answers and explanations to all questions. Poppy Fest was discussed and it was
indicated that the Poppy Fest budget will be reviewed and updated for next meeting by Liz
Atherton and Carri Miller. Main Street budget goals etc. will be set and reviewed at the Board
workshop to be scheduled. Shelly will continue budget presentations for review at the Board
Meetings. Work has been started on the Main Street Website.
