Regular Meeting
1.Meeting called to order at 8:05 a.m. by Cindy Locke, vice-chair . Gordon Baker,
chair , abstained from facilitating the meeting due to a personal conflict of interest with
the application.
2.Jeannine Weisbrod presented material delineating the colors to be used, historic
eggplant and sage, on the façade and signs. Larry McCormick clarified that $500 is the
maximum allowed for the sign and $5,161 is the maximum for the façade. The total
application for both the façade and the sign was $5,661 for both grants. Discussion
followed as to where the signs would be placed and which portions of façade would get
painted.
3.Larry McCormick moved to accept their proposals and award them the grants
for a maximum reimbursement of $5,661. Diane Painter seconded the motion. All in
favor, none opposed. Gordon Baker, chair , and Marsha Farney, secretary, abstained
from voting due to a personal conflict of interest.
4.Shelly Hargrove explained that Diva would be placed on the next city council
agenda meeting to recognize them. They can now begin working on their sign and
façade. She furthered instructed the Weisbrod’s to bring their total receipts after the
work had been completed to her and they would receive one check as their
reimbursement grant award.
5.Gordon Baker recommended that from now on we ask sign and façade grant
applicants to present the same information to our board that is presented to the
Historical Architectural Review Committee (HARC). He also recommended that we, as
members of the MSAB, visit the HARC meetings when we have a common interest in
an applicant. HARC meets in the City Council Chambers every month for
approximately 1 ½ hours. Cindy asked if we should consider having a MSAB member
present at the HARC meetings and Gordon said he thought it was a good idea.
6.There was some brief discussion by Larry McCormick about the boundaries of
the Downtown Overlay District. Shelly clarified with a visual handout with the gray
area representing the district.
7.Shelly reminded all the board members of the April 8, 2005 board retreat to be
held at Monica’s from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. She asked that we come having reviewed the
Downtown Master Plan for downtown Georgetown and Section 3 of our notebook
which explains our work plan and the details for different committees. Shelly also asked
that each board member return a questionnaire she emailed to us no later than today.
8.Cindy announced that the meeting was adjourned.
