Board Members Present: Gordon Baker, chair; Kirk Kriegel, vice chair; Ellen Davis, secretary; Beverly Adam; Terri Countess; Gary Leissner Board Members Absent: Staff Present: Shelly Hargrove, Tourism Director and Main Street Manager; Elizabeth Cook, Principal Planner Minutes Regular Meeting 1.The meeting was called to order at 8:04 a.m. by Chair Gordon Baker. 2.Gary made a motion to approve the minutes of the July 11 meeting and Beverly seconded it. The minutes were approved by all present. 3.Steve and Kyra Quenan presented their application for a Façade Fund Grant. They would like the maximum amount ($10,000) to put toward a new roof for the building they are renovating at 700 S. Austin Ave. Beverly made a motion to approve a grant of $10,000 and Kirk seconded it. The Quenans said they hope to move into their new building by the end of October. They may file a separate application for a sign grant later. 4.Elizabeth Cook gave a brief update on HARC activities and other changes to downtown. She said the Monument Café has filed a site plan for its new downtown restaurant. Sun Star Plaza is changing its name to Tamiro. We can expect sign and façade grant applications to be coming in the future from Heritage Printing and the Car Quest building. 5.Gordon reminded board members of the importance of attending meetings. An attendance report for the period from March 2007 through July 2007 has been filed with the Mayor. 6.Gordon reported that he and R.C. Lumpkin from the CVB Board met with the Mayor in July to discuss the possibility of creating separate staff positions for the Main Street Program and the CVB. The two then spoke before the City Council at its July 24 meeting. 7.Shelly gave her staff report. Representatives from Del Rio visited Georgetown July 30, resulting in some very positive publicity for Georgetown. The ShopCentralTexas.com website saw a 70 percent increase in hits in July. Two projects were entered in the Texas Downtown Association’s awards competition this year. 8.Meeting adjourned at 9:30 a.m.
