The Main Street Advisory Board of the City of Georgetown, Texas, met on Wednesday , September 2,
2009.
Board Members Present:
Chris Dyer, chair; Trevor Dunham, vice-chair, Tiffany McLendon, Connie Watson, secretary; Tamara
Hudgins; Denise Jimenez
Board Members Absent:
Pete Smith
Staff Present:
RShelly Hargrove, Main Street Manager; Karen Frost, Community Development Admin Supervisor
Minutes
Regular Meeting
The meeting was called to order at 8:03 a.m. by Chair Chris Dyer.
Tamara moved to approve the August 5th meeting minutes. The motion was seconded
by Denise. Minutes were approved by all present.
Discussion regarding Facade & Sign Grant applications:

St. (Galaxy Cupcakes) – Trevor moved to approve a
facade grant for $10,000 and a sign grant for $500 contingent upon HARC
design approval on September 24, and Chris seconded the motion, approved
by all present.
Chris Damon, 110 E. 7

St. (Old Masonic Lodge Bldg.) – Chris moved to approve a
facade grant for $10,000; the motion was seconded by Tamara and approved by
all present.
Karen gave the HARC Update. Three applications to HARC. Merrill Lynch sign denied
at Tamiro Bldg; they have a monument sign. Home at College & 7
th
St. will demolish
back building. Green Earth Buildings is moving into Zoe’s space. A sign request is
coming for 817 S. Austin (Brazos Collection); they already have a sign and it needs
to be approved.
Staff Reports:
Pink Ribbon Tour – Will stop on Main St. on October 21st from 4-8 p.m. $15 t-shirts
are on sale from GT Fire Association. Group survivors photo will be at 6:30
p.m. Also, push to wear pink October 25-27.
Downtown Marketing – First Lady’s Texas Treasure Community signs to be put
up in October. Will put on Austin Ave. at San Gabriel Bridge and S. Austin
Historic District Sign.
Sidewalk seating – There is an irrigation water leak in front of old Masonic Lodge
building. Instead of repairing for flower beds, Chris Damon suggested covering
the beds and use as outdoor seating for the restaurant. Group approved it as an
idea.
Downtown Parking – Parking passes have been handed out to businesses to give
to customers. They are only good for one day.
Calendar Events:
You Can’t Do That, Dan Moody! Tickets almost sold out for previews but others are
available.
Up the Chisholm Trail is on Sept. 11 &12
Historic Marker sign is up. Dedication is on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Cattle Drive is
at 5 p.m.
New Braunfels Main Street Tour – September 29 Coming to hear about design
guidelines and master plan from 8-10:30 a.m. Group will start at the
courthouse.
Committee Reports:
Economic Restructuring (Trevor, Chris, Tamara): Work plan – finalized. a.
Subcommittees include: Hospitality/Business Retention, Marketing &
Branding, Special Programs – film friendly designation, Retail Strategy &
Planning, and Business Recruitment. Billboards Project – goal is to have
several boards and Tiffany offered to help with design.
Organization (Pete, Trevor, Connie): Chris – Pete sent letter to resign. Need b.
new board member. Pull from a committee.
Promotion (Connie, Denise, Tiffany): Georgetown Swirl on Nov. 21. Gary c.
Nelon agreed to be honorary chair of the event. Working on sponsors.
Design (Tiffany, Tamara, Denise, Pete): Kiwanis working on selling wreaths d.
and garland for holiday decorations. Working on murals with Arts and
Culture Board. Chris – holiday light display being created for the
Courthouse for lighting on the square on Nov. 27. Raising $10,000 for the
project.
The meeting adjourned at 9:45 a.m. The next meeting will be on October 7
th
