The Georgetown Youth Advisory Board will meet on Monday, February 10, 2003 at 04:30 PM in the Parks
and Recreation Conference Room, 1003 North Austin Ave., Georgetown, Texas.

February 10, 2003
I.CALL MEETING TO ORDER
Wes calls the meeting to order at 4:30 PM at the Parks and Recreations Conference
room.
II.REPORT ON GYAB TEAM BUILDING
Several GYAB members commented on the Team Building activities and the benefits
of bonding with one other. Brenda asked members to look at their role in GYAB and
for leaders to help mentor and facilitate the younger members leadership abilities by
allowing everyone a voice in creating change on the Board
III.DISSCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION ON TEEN FEST
Traci Stengle leads discussion on the upcoming Teen Fest. Things for the Board to
review: $5.00 entrance fee, $2.00 for Service Day participants, high school event
(GISD), budget issues are purchasing additional fencing to enclose the area, the
contract for the climbing wall ,and hiring a DJ for the event. The Board has to start
recruiting bands to play at the Fest. Lisa Foster offered to help with recruiting at the
schools Battle of the Bands competition in
March. Teen Fest will be from 6-11 p.m. on April 12th, 2003, in the park at the
Gazebo. Loyd Pearson has offered to help locate some food or financial help for the
event. The board is interested in opening up booths to High School Clubs for them to
raise money at the Fest. Community Events and Youth Activities Committees will
meet to discuss what the setup for booths will be and who will be invited to
participate. The Board is also interested in giving door prizes away at the event.
Public Relations Committee will prepare a flyer and solicit donations from area
business. Traci will apply for the event permit and get more information from Mr.
Pearson on donations. Brenda will meet with the Parks Manager to determine what
the lighting and electricity situation will be like in the park.
IV.DISSCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION ON THE BYLAWS
Bylaws discussion moved to next meeting date.
V.DISSCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION ON CALENDAR
Jonathan leads the discussion on upcoming events. The Valentine’s Dance has been
canceled due to a conflict with the schools hosting a dance. There will be a new
dance on February 21,2003, here at the Rec. for 6th Graders. Three members
volunteer to attend. YAC summit deadline for attending is Friday, February 14th,
2003. The event is March 1st and 2nd, in Killeen. April 5th & 6th is the Red
Poppy Festival, interested parties can contact Traci Stengle to get the contact person’s
name to volunteer. April 5th at 10 a.m. at the Rec. there will be a meeting to organize
and advertise for the Teen Fest. The group will make posters, finish any last minute
details for the Fest and go to the Poppy Fest to pass out flyers. Jonathan moves to
meet on the 5th of February. Lauren Senchack seconds.
Vote: 21-0 in favor. Possible Movie Nights at Williams Drive Pool were discussed
for June 6th, and July 25th, 2003. No action taken as the Movie Night due to further
coordination needed with the Movie Company.
VI.DISSCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION ON COMMITTEE MEETINGS
Discussion on planning process for the Teen Fest and preparing for the event.
Committees will hold meetings as needed to for the event. No action Taken.
