Call to Order at 04:30 PM NOTICE OF MEETING OF THE YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS Tuesday, November 23, 2004 Youth Advisory Board Mission Statement The Georgetown Youth Advisory Board provides a means for youth to unite the community, promote healthy decisions and create leadership skills to create solutions for the benefit of all. Notice is hereby given that the Georgetown Youth Advisory Board will hold a meeting on Tuesday, November 23, 2004, at 4:30 p.m. in the Conference Room at the Parks and Recreation Building, located at 1003 N. Austin Ave. Georgetown, Texas. AGENDA 1.Board meeting call to order –Jillian Daleiden 2.Discussion and possible action on Bylaws –Brenda J. Board Members Present: Candice Butler, Amanda Hanson-Emerson, Rebecca Counts, Elissa Delmatier, Phillip May, Meredith Morrow, Jonathan Soape, Daleiden, Travis Hobbs, Rachel McNutt, Melissa McNutt Board Members Absent: Jacob Wolfman, Kammie Wolfman, Jonathan Patterson, Rachel Heisch, Jillian Daleiden, Jennifer Daleiden, Steffanie Sikes, Leah Martinez Staff Present: Brenda J. Culver, Staff Liaison Minutes Regular Meeting I. Board Meeting called to order by Rebecca Counts at 4:40 p.m. II. Discussion and possible action on Bylaws Article II Membership Section 2.1 Remove the part of sentance 1that reads, "...and a maximum of four(4) members representing each of these grade levels." Section 2.3 Remove the first sentance that reads, "The annual selection of the Board will be through an application process" The third sentence will read, "Applications will be reviewed by a Subcommittee of the Georgetown Youth Advisory Board Officers", replacing "...the Mayor and the City Council will then interview qualified applicants" Section 2.4 The first sentance will read, "The term of membership shall be for two years with an option to reapply." The second sentance will read, "Vacancies left by graduating seniors will be filled in August." Section 2.7 The seventh sentance will read, "Absences will be reviewed in December and June by the Sergeant at Arms to ensure members are fulfilling their attendance requirements." Section 2.8 The second sentance will read,"Attendance will be reviewed in December and June by the Sergeant at Arms to ensure members are fulfilling their attendance requirements." Article III. Officers Section 3.1 The second sentance shall read, "The Chairperson will be elected by the Board and appointed by the Mayor." The third sentance will read, "The City Council shall confirm the current membership and appoint new members at the first City Council meeting." Section 3.4 The fifth sentance shall read, "The Sergeant at Arms is responsible for maintaining order in meetings by ensuring Board guidelines are followed and keeping and reviewing attendance records." Article IV. Meetings Section 4.1 The first sentance shall read, "Two regular monthly meetins will be held on the first and third Tuesday of the month at 4:30 p.m. in the Parks and Recreation Conference Room." Article VI. Subcommittees Section 6.1 Seentance two will read, "Subcommittes comprised of non-members may only be formed with prior consent and confirmation of the City Council." Board election are held, with the following members being elected to Officer positions: Chairperson- Rebecca Counts, Vice-Chairperson- Meredith Morrow, Secretary- Candice Butler, Treasurer- Elissa Delmatier, Sergeant at Arms- Jonathan Soape III. Discuission and possible action on Calendar Jonathan Soape opens discussion on upcoming events. December 11, 2004, will be the Annual Christmas Party and Caroling at the Nursing Homes. Members are asked to bring a gift for the family adopted for Christmas. The evening will begin at 2 p.m. so that GYAB can get around to all the centers before bedtime. The next GYAB meeting will be on December 7 at 4:30 p.m. The newly elected GYAB Officers will meet at the Recreation Center November 23 at 4:30 p.m. IV. Adjourn Candice Butler motions to adjourn.
