Call to Order at 04:30 PM NOTICE OF MEETING OF THE YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS Tuesday, January 17, 2006 Youth Advisory Board Mission Statement The Georgetown Youth Advisory Board provides a means for youth to unite the community, promote healthy decisions and create leadership skills to create solutions for the benefit of all. Notice is hereby given that the Georgetown Youth Advisory Board will hold a meeting on Tuesday, January 17, 2006, at 4:30 p.m. in the Conference Room at the Parks and Recreation Building, located at 1003 N. Board Members Present: Phillip May, Crystal Pratt, Kammie Wolfman, Jacob W olfman, Melissa McNutt, Rachel McNutt, Candice Butler, Amanda Hanson-Emerson, Ann Evans Board Members Absent: Meredith Klipple, Will Foster, Fernando G. Romero, Jr., Vishal Galani, Meredith Morrow, Rebecca Counts, Jonathan Patterson, Kaci Rogers, Jonathan Soape Staff Present: Brenda J. Culver, Staff Liaison Minutes Regular Meeting The Georgetown Youth Advisory Boards January 17, 2006 Meeting Minutes 1.Board meeting called to order at 5:02 p.m.by Phillip May. 2.Bobby Bulls informs the Board on a Intermural Sports day he would like to get support for in the event that GISD doesn't back the event. GYAB will place this item on the agenda for the next meeting. 3. Report on MLK Service Day given by Brenda J. Culver. The event was hosted by The Georgetown Project and the Youth Action Council with approximately 100 attendees. There were interfaith speakers, Drum Cafe lead a dynamic group drumming and then service projects in the afternoon. 4. Discussion and possible action on March Madness lead by Brenda J. Culver about hosting this event in March. An informal planning meeting will outline the necessary responsibilites at a meeting on January 24, at 4:30 p.m. at the Recreation Center. Jacob and Amanda volunteer to contact the coaches to get their involvement. 5.Discussion and possible action on Georgetown City Limit lead by Brenda J. Culver. Date for GCL will be April 29th, 2006,, due to prom and other GISD events. 6.Discussion and possible action on Attendance lead by Brenda J. Culver. Members whose attendance has fallen below the required number will be receiving letters thanking them for their service. Brenda ask for suggestions on how to get attendance back up and also the members commitments on events that they have agreed to host or cosponsor. 7.Discussion and possible action on Calendar/ Middle School Pool Parties & Back to School Party lead by Brenda J. Culver. Candice Butler moves to continue sponsoring the High School Back to School Party in August. Phillip seconds. All in favor 9 - 0 opposed. Middle School Pool Parties were not approved as the consensus was that we can not get the members to attend during the summer. Brenda reminded the Board that they initially stated that they wanted to sponsor more Middle School events, and there has been no action taken towards this goal. Cupid's Chase will be February 11, 2006, volunteers will assist with the first Water Station behind the Recreation Center. Volunteers will need to be here at 7:30 a.m an the event is usually over within an hour of the race start. Brenda will have fresh donuts and hot cocoa for those helping with this event. 8.Candice moves to adjourn the meeting at 5:38 p.m., Melissa seconds. 9-0 in favor.
