Georgetown Youth Advisory Board Members: Kokie Cummings, Audrie Cummings, Alicia Kellum, Claire Janes, Rachel Konovodoff, Sara Peacock, Dylan Ragan, Frances Stone, Parker Tadlock, Bailey Vandegrift, Tyler Willrich Georgetown Youth Advisory Board meeting dates/times to be determined. Board Members Present: Kokie Cummings, Audrie Cummings, Claire Janes, Rachel Konovodoff, Sara Peacock, Dylan Ragan, Frances Stone, Parker Tadlock, Tyler Willrich Board Members Absent: Alicia Kellum, Bailey Vandegrift Staff Present: Katie Sofranko Minutes Regular Meeting Minutes for January 10 th 2011 Meeting called to order at 6:00 PM by Tyler Willrich 1.Consideration and possible action to approve minutes from GYAB meeting on December 6, 2010 Motion to approve: Dylan RaganSecond: Kokie Cummings 2.Tyler Willrich discussed the outline for possible activities in 2011 -January 15 th , to have a live music night with snacks such as Chex mix and popcorn or have a coffee bar theme. This would be held from 7 – 9. -January 17 th , to have a service project for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. -Possibility of volunteering at The Caring Place at the end of January. Maybe the 29 th . -February 5 th is Cupid’s Chase in Georgetown and some volunteers off GYAB will go and help out with water for the runners. -Possibility of volunteering at St. David’s hospital on March 6 th or 27 th . -April 16 th , The Red Poppy Fest will be held in downtown Georgetown and the GYAB will be in the parade. Will have later plans on whether or not to include a float. -If possible, in April, it would great if GYAB could help out at the local Eggstravaganza. -In May, there should be a date where the GYAB can volunteer at the Animal shelter and that gives the GYAB enough time to take the class on it. -May 14 th , will be the Battle of the Bands night from 6 – 10. 3.Tyler Willrich reviewed last year’s board activities. -GYAB performed at the Halloween festival. -GYAB was introduced to the city council. -GYAB held a booth at the Christmas stroll. -GYAB held a holiday party at the Recreational center. 4.Tyler Willrich discussed the proposal of changing the GYAB symbol and where to find an artist. -9 voted in favor of having a rec center contest to find the best symbol. 5.Tyler Willrich discussed the teen survey composition. -It is to be mostly multiple choice with a few short answer open ended questions. -It is to be sent out to all schools. -Rachel Konovodoff would draw up a sample survey for an example at next meeting. 6.Tyler Willrich reviewed city council meeting and their perception of the GYAB. -The city council was very impressed and excited to hear about GYAB and interested in the service projects. 7.Tyler Willrich asked to review the current budget balance and was pleased to hear that the GYAB has a good balance of money with almost $5,000 and had it up until September. 8.Katie Sofranko discussed the future Youth Action Council Summit on February 25 th and 26 th . 8 were in favor of representing the GYAB there and possible action would be instated on January 21 st . 9. Katie Sofranko discussed the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service -Tyler Willrich, Frances Stone, and Alicia Kellum all volunteered to go with the possibility of Rachel Konovodoff and Dylan Ragan. 10.Katie Sofranko changed the date of the Georgetown city limits from its earlier date to May 14 th . 11. Meeting was adjourned at 6:48 PM. Motion to approve: Sara Peacock, Second: Parker Tadlock.
