1.0 Parks and Recreation Staff Introduction
Parks and Recreation Staff Introduction -- Ashley Allen, Parks and Recreation Supervisor
Ashley Allenj Parks and Recreation Supervisor, over sees Adult and Youth Athletics as
well as the Tennis Center. Ashley played Golf for Tarleton State University. She began
her career in Park rtm*W%*q
for the City of Stevensville Parks Department. Ashley moved up to work at the front desk
and then was promoted to oversee the Athletics program. Ashley's husband is in the Army
which brought them to the Georgetown area. In 2022 she began to work for the City of
Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department, in Dec of 2023 she moved up to the
Athletics Supervisor position.
Day to day Ashley handles all facility rentals for Athletics which takes a good bit of her
time. When she became the Athletic Supervisor, the Adult Athletics program consisted of
softball and indoor volleyball; we now also have cornhole, kickball, and sand volleyball.
All programs are full and thriving. Youth programs are also busting at the seams. Our
Soccer program had approximately 600-700 participants in previous years and this past
season had overl 500 participants. Basketball was maxed out for 8 to 9 year -olds and we
had a lengthy waiting list as well. We have recently increased the number of athletics
camps we offer. In prior years the only option for athletic camps were Basketball and
Soccer. We have now added Track and Field and Volleyball camps. Camps have tripled
in size, and we are needing additional space to continue to grow. A bond was passed in
November of 2023 to allow for an expansion of the current Georgetown Recreation
Center. Ashly is also working to partner with GISID, beginning in March, Tennis Pros fro
the Georgetown Tennis Center will go into the Georgetown elementary schools to teach
I
Pickleball and Tennis during the GISD Outdoor Raquet Sports Unit. Ashley enjoys her
job and is looking forward to seeing the Athletics Programs grow. I
