HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_LAB_06.01.2021Minutes of the Meeting of the Library Advisory Board City of Georgetown June 1, 2021 The Library Advisory Board met on Tuesday, dune 1, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. in Classroom 211 of the Georgetown Public Library; 402 W, 8th Street, and virtually via Zoom, MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE: Nosa Asowata (virtual); Susan Cooper, Nancy Hill, Michael Kelley, Thom Sinwell, and Richard Thielmann: MEMBERS ABSENT: David Garlock STAFF IN ATTENDANCE: Sally Miculek—Library Director, Sheri Miklaski-Community Outreach Librarian, Liz Pedrosa - Community Outreach Assistant and Lawren Weiss -Administrative Assistant (virtual), The meeting was called to order at 6:00 a m. by Board Chair Kelley: X Citizens wiling to address the board. -Michael Kelley, Chair. None were present. No action required. B. Introduction of Library staff member. -Sally Miculek, Library Director, Sheri Miklaski-Community Outreach Librarian, and Liz Pedrosa -Community Outreach Assistant. Miculek introduced Mklaski and Pedrosa to the Beard, giving each an opportunity to explain their background and role in the Library. Miculek ask Board members to let her know if they'd be interested in a ride -along on the WO Imcbile (fiords on Wheels), so they can get a first-hand look at how Sheri and Liz provide outreach services to patrons outside of the building. No action required. C. Consideration and possible action to approve minutes from the May 4, 2021 Library Advisory Board mgeti -Michael Kelley, Board Chair: Board members did not have revisions for the May minutes. Motion by Sinwell second by Hill to approve the May 4, 2021 Library Advisory Board minutes as distributed. Approved 6-0 (Garlock absent). D Consideration of Library Director's report.-SallyMiculek, Library Director. Miculek reviewed the Library's monthly statistics, gifts and memorials log, and her Director's Report presentation (attached). The Board and Miculek also discussed the City's Special Emphasis Observances program, staff changes and the return of magazine donations. No action required: E. DiscL;ssionof Library program advertising strategies, Susan Cooper, Board Secretary and Sally Miculek, Library Director. Cooper asked for information regarding advertisements and articles about the Library. Miculek explained that the Library does not currently pay for advertisements, rather various news outlets, and tie City's Communications department report on Library happenings, Miculek will keep the Board apprised of any news articles she knows about in advance. Miculek also provided the Beard with information in the agenda packet about where the public can find Library news. F. Consideration and possible action re€,�ardinq future meetin dotes and times. -Michael Kelley, Board Chair: The next Library Advisory Board meeting will continue as regularly scheduled on Tuesday, July 6 at 6 p.m. No action taken.
