LIBRARY BOARD MEETING'
MEMBERS PRESENT: Williams, Mayo, Jacob, Winters, Seever, and Harper.
MEMBERS ABSENT: Gadison, Vasquez, and Gold.
OTHERS PRESENT: -Mrs. Philphot, and Mrs. Lawyer.
Everette Williams presided.

Financial Report - Enclosed - Note change of April Report.
LIBRARY REPORT
Shelves - Up and paid for
Check-out rate high - Average 300 books daily - One day almost hit
500.
Help Good - With one extra fulltime paid by city also government
paying Carol Bunch through September.
Custodian Help not Effective - Especially the Rest Rooms - Librarians
end up doing cleaning - Tabled till
next time - Notify Gold as he obtained
him - Tabled UNANIMOUS VOTE.
PROBLEMS OF USE OF COMMUNITY ROOM WHEN LIBRARY NOT OPEN -
Mayo moved that a committee be appointed to approach Leo Wood on
city financing supervision of library community room during night
hours.
Motion Seconded by Seever.
DISCUSSION:
Entrance and exit by side door only - not in main library part
at all.
Choice of supervisor and bookings at discretion of librarian.

NEW BUSINESS
Mrs..Lawyer - Appealing library fines - 3 paperbacks out since
Felt $30.00 plus fine excessive. Research
showed she had checked out books in intervening,
years without being informed of 3 books. Unaware
of fine change in November'77 of five cents a day.
Extended Discussion
Motion by Seever In Mrs. Lawyer's case only pay for repla-
cement cost of book, plus $1.50 handling
charges. Pending revision of library rules
if necessary.

Empower Mrs. Philphot to collect price of book plus
$1.50 and dispense with fines until regulations are reviewed.'
