HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_LAB_07.05.1978r JULY 5, 1978 LIBRARY BOARD MEETING MEMBERS PRESENT: Williams, Harper, Winter, Seever, Mayo, Vasquez, and Jacobs. MEMBERS ABSENT: Gold, and Gadison. OTHERS PRESENT: Philphot. The meeting was called to order by Mrs. Mayo and later presided over by Vice President Williams. Minutes - ROUGHDRAFT READ BY JACOBS Treasurer Report was approved as presented OLD BUSINESS 1.) Use of Community Room - Report from Mrs. Mayo on Meeting with Wood (Philphot was also present) along with Seever and Gold. Rooms locked - therefore can be used on following conditions: A.) Enter and Exit by alley door, B.) No Parties - Only non-profit community organizations of adults, C.) No Children or Students, D.) A $5.00 deposit for key. $5.00 to be returned with key, E.) Use dependent on Mrs. Philphot's discretion. Appeal to A.) Board and B.) City Council F.) Written rules for use - Sign statement for liability for damage. Board received this report as information pending receipt of formal proposal from Gold. 2.) Cleaning Problems: Tabled for Cold - Issue should be settled before September 1, 1978 as due to get raise request of 16 hours a month at $2.40 an hour. Rest Rooms definitely need more cleaning than one time a week. 3.) Overdue Books: Discussion at length of policy. Seever moves that for lost books the person pays replacement cost of book, $1.50 handling charges, and accumulated fines. For overdue books Seever moved that cost would be accumulated fines with no ceiling. SECONDED - MAYO Vote - FOR - Williams, Winter, Seever, Mayo, Harper, and Vas- quez. PAGE 2 0 L Vote - AGAINST - Jacobs. Mrs. Philphot instructed to revise letters sent out to reflect new policy. NEW BUSINESS 1.) Jacob moved that visitors to board meeting should be heard first before the Board considers regular business. SECONDED - MAYO UNANIMOUS VOTE 2.) Holiday Due Problems: Seever - Books due on official holidays could be due the next.day. Philphot said this was already policy and the girls just slipped up on July the Fourth. 3.) Discussion nn the fact that minutes are vital written record of the Board. Consensus of Board that two copies be made of minutes and one set kept at library with folder - folder always to be one mo- nth from current - for example, July minutes put in after August Mee- ting - etc. MEETING ADJOURNED
