I Presents Williams, Harper, Elliott, Philpot, Vas u'ez, Oliver, Jacob
The March meeting of the Library,Board was called to order.by
Vice Chalrperson'Wiiliams. Minutes of*the February meeting were approved
as read. The financial report for February 1979 showed a emcumbered funds
balanced of 43,359.47, and a balance in operating funds of 42,079.83,
Mrs. Philpot reported that the large print book order, financed
by an individual donor, had been completed and mailed. Thus, when these
books arrive, our large print selection will contain all the books
available 1rorr, the English company. She also reported that the
custodial change was extremely satisfactory.
In a discussion of old business, the Board.was-gratified that the
police's handling of delinquent books was very effectivb-aae the
books have been returned. �Alsb the Board had a lengthy discussion
concerning the desirability of reactivating the Friends of the Library.
Jacob agreed to write the Central Texas Library System fo*aterials
on reorganization and recr,,itment of the.Friends.! The Board decided
to defer definite action till Barbara Seever recovers from recent
surgery.
Jacob reported on the Central Texas Library System �T.eeting that
soe and Philpot attended in Killeen on February 21, 1,,)7q. She ledA.
a discussion on the many services available froT this organization.
The proposed budget for Sent. 1979 - Aug. 198o was explained by Jac,-b.
%ranges occured in salaryes and book money. This budget was approved
on an unanimous vote after a motion by Harper and second by Elliott.
Williams 6ffered to forward the bud et to Gold to present to the city.
Mrs. Harper stated tiiat she would be attending the state library
conventi(n in San Antonio. The Board expressed the desire to have
funds budgeted for Philpot to attend also. If not this year, certainly
next year money should be alloted for such.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 10;45 a.m.
