Library Board
Present: 'rlilliams, Oliver, Elliott, Jefferson, Vasquez, Winters, Harper,
Jacob, I'hilpot.
The lay meeting of the Library Board was called to order by Vice Chairman "
Willi, ams. 'he minutes were approved as presented. The financial report
showed a balance of encumbered*funds of-2269.33 and a balance of 'S?.56?.-x
in operating funds. '"he Board then reviewed the changes in the 1979-1980
budget in an attempt to clarify and explain.
,--cob reported on the lack of 'progress in reactivating the Friends. "�,pb
Board decided to allow !;-s. Seever another month in which to call a meeting
of th.e Friends. If no actial has been taken b;T the June meeting, the
"Inard would instigate action on its own.
a.rDdr reported on the State Library Convention she attended in "an
Antonio. the discussed some of the difficulties the organization was
f,avinF since it combined the offices of the "r_iends and the I.ibrar?t hoards.
Text, Jacob reported, on the "WIildren's Services 1,,,1orkshop she attended in
Lockhart. Jacob suggested a steering committee be up to expand the
c�Aeldren's services this summer. The "Ooard was in agreement, and
various individuals were suggested for such a committee. The 'bard
also decided to prepare fliers , at library expense, to be distributed
to various schools informing parents of our program ideas and appealing
f,)r their k help. Vasquez offered to clear this with D!aek Frost. (k

11lott was thanked for her clubt donation. She also informed the r�oard
that Sears has free films that pessibly could be beneficial to our
programs as well.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 10.45 a.m.
