Library Report
resent: Gold, Williams, Jacob, Oliver, Philpot, Seever,
Winters, Bingham and Vasquez. Elliott,
The May meeting of the Geordtown Library Board of Trustees was called
to order by Chairperson Williams. The minutes of the April meeting
were approved as presented.
The financial report presented by Winters was approved. As of 4-30-81
the report showed a balance of operating Funds of 2,935-36.
Philpot library report showed a total circulation of 6,419 for the month
of April.
During the CTLS report, Jacob reported that'.at the last meeting held in
Belton the budget was approved. The May CTLS meeting will be on library
personnel.
Bingham reported on the Friends 4-27 meeting which was very poorly attended.
It is the feeling of the Executive Board that people are willing to help
in projects but do not want to attend meetings, so the board has decided
to reach out to the community for help when the need arises for programs
and activities. The Friends are planing a,fund raising for the fall and
that'the inside book drop has been order, Bingham reported.
During the LRPC , . Gold and members discuEPed., on different grants that

seeded to be approach for funds. After lenghty diAlssion it was de-
cided that a detail outline was needed as to all the needs.fr-pl-ans and
advice from David Holt.,---:Gold,was to report back on next meeting-.
Seever moved that Gold and committee be able to use -funds from library
savings c.b. account if needed for expenses Motion was second by Jacob.
Motion carried. -
On leave of absence item Oliver moved that leave of absence be granted
for maternity, family emergencies and long illnesses (over 2 wks.).
Motion was seconded by Seever. Motion carried.
The board was told of some suggestions and new ideas for libraries that
had been presented in a CTLS workshop which Jacob attended. Jacob is
to run off a -list of them for board to study and discuss on next meeting
The board review the letter from Georgetovm Area United Way which desires
that the library approach the city for more funds. At this time the city
has allow the library board to go up.9nly 6% on their proposed budget.
Williams recommended that Gertrude Saterfield be consider to fulfill
the unexpired term of Harper. Seever made a motion that Saterfield be
recommend to the Mayor for his consideration. It was second by Oliver.
Motion carried.
Vasquez resignation.was table until next meeting. Lastly , Kay Brown
a new library assistant is to replace Shirly Norris.
