STANDING RULES FOR THE GEORGETOWN PUBLIC LIBRARY
1. A library card may be obtained by any child or adult, without charge, regardless
of his or her place of residence. Applicant will be required to provide his or
her mailing address and street address (supported by proper identification) as
well as sign the library card. Children 14 and younger must have the signature
of a parent or guardian. Visitors or temporary residents may obtain a library
card with a deposit of $5.00, which will be refunded when they leave.
2. Library hours shall be: Mon- Fri 10-5
Sat. 10-2
3. The library shall be closed on all holidays recognized by the City of Georgetown.
Additional days can be allowed at the discretion of the Library Board of Trustees.
Books due on official holidays will be due the following business day.
4. Books may be checked out for fourteen (14) days with one two -week recheck. Seven
{7} day books can not be rechecked. However, after a one week waiting period,
both types of books can be rechecked. The librarian can regulate high demand
books (holiday books for example) in length of days and number of books checked
out.
5. Each borrower may check out 2 books with a new card. After the initial checkout,
each borrower may check out 5 or more books, at the discretion of the librarian.
6. Fines for 14 day overdue books will be charged at the rate of 5 cents per day,
including Sundays and holidays. There will be a 10 cents a day charge for
7 day books. This fine schedule has no ceiling.
7. Fines must be paid before further books are checked out. Any fine paid with
a check that was insufficient, or had payment on it stopped, must be made good
before the person or any member of its immediate family can use any service of
the library.
8. Books must be brought back to the Library for renewal so that they can be
stamped with the renewal date. Telephone renewals can be made at the discretion
of the librarian in case of illness or bad weather or other circumstances.
g. Magazines will be kept for at least a three-year period for reference use with
Readers Guide.
10. Lost books or those deemed by the librarian to be defaced beyond use must be
paid for at the current replacement price plus $1.50 handling charges.
11. Over due books are the responsibility of the individual borrower. Librarians
can utilize telephone calls and letters at their discretion when time allows.

t.1 The September meeting of theGeorgetown Library 'Roard of Trustees was
called to order by Chairperson Williams who welcomed Gertrude Satterfield.
The minutes of the Juno meeting (there were no July and August Meetings)
were approved as presented.
The financial reports for July and August were explained by Winters
and approved as presented. At the end of fiscal year 1981, the book balance
was S3,189.4?, and the balance in operating funds was A3,314.78. Oliver and
Jacob introduced a discussion on the necessity of spending all of the book

Winters reported that the library will receive 1�2,508.5� a month from
the City for fiscal year 1982. Philpot reported that the library would
receive $4000 from the United Fund for book purchases. This is the same
amount as last year.
I*Iilpot's library report for August 1931 showed a total circulation
of 7,857--an increase of 59 books over August 1988. As a response to
:{I Oliver, Philpot promised an additional monthly report showing fines collected.
On the CTL9 report, Jac'o'b reported attending a workshop in Rockdale
with Trene Elliott and Leo Wood. Following the meeting, Wood,Gold, and
Williams met with key people (architect, SU officials, newspaper editor, etc.)
and discussed the fesibility of grants for the second floor of the library.
The next CTLS workshop will be September 9 in Temple. A mini -
workshop on public relations will precede the business meeting.
Jacob reported that the Friends were having trouble getting the
book drop installed. Dodson'Glass did not think glass would support it.
The Friends asked the *Roard for help. After some discussion* the '9oard
on a motion by Oliver and a second by Satterfield, instructed Jacob to
contact Found Rock rl2ss for a second opinion on the look drop. if possible,
an estimate should be optained. Then, Jacob was to approach the City for
approval of installation and for funds if necessary.
Lastly, on a motion by Oliver and a second by Jacob, the Board moved
to recommend Sylvia Thomas to the Mayor to fulfill the unexpired term of
Loie Vasquez. Jacob was to -notify the Mayor.

Dear Mayor John Doerfler,
The Georgetown Library Board of Trustees has been notified by
Lois Vasquez that she can no longer serve on the .BoardTdue to
otvebelhers
in her work schedule. Mrs. Vasquez recommends Sylvia
replacement. Tle majority of the Board concurs with Mrs. Vasquez.
So, the Board recommends Sylvia Thomas for your consideration for the
unexpired term 'of Mrs- Vasquez'

in addition, the Roard was curious as to whether or de Satterfield
Council has officially approved the. appointment of Gertrude
to fill the vacancy created by Florence Farper's resignation.
Please notify us when your appointments to these two places on
the Library Board are official.
