Board Meeting - December 1, 1982
Present; Seever, Winters, Philpot, Elliott, Williams, Jacob, Saterfield, Cisneros, Gold
Vice-president Seever presided
Introduction of new board member, Linda Cisneros, who was welcomed to the board by
other members present.
Minutes of the November meeting were read and approved.
Seever reported that the christmaslights had been purchased for decorating the
outside of the library and would be ready for the Christmas stroll, Dec. loth,
also the library will remain open as a hospitality area for the stroll. A Christmas
tree will be decorated in the conference room and a book tree in the library.
Jacob will show a movie in the library during the stroll.
The financial report for the month of November was road and approved. Total
disbursements was $3,851.49. Bank balance $4,946.49 and-$122.13 book balance.
Philpot's library report was read and approved. Circulation for Nov. was 5,758.
The librarian's financial report $6,466.14 total monies available.
CTLS report -Jacob reported on attending the state advisory committee meeting
for a two-day workshop which was very informative.
Seaver suggested that board members write letters to Charles Butt of H.E.B.,
and thank him for his continued support of public libraries. Lately a sign on
their grocery bags has read HEB-life long friend of the public library.

egal ways of getting these books returned. Jacob will contact the Texas state
ibrary to find out what legal manner we can employ to collect overdue books.
LRPC report -Gold reported on the problem with the foundation, which needs to be
on piers 33 ft. under ground and the library has only 16 inches of land on the
east side. The committee has been unable to get land easement from the owners,
but will meet with them next week. Discussion followed, Seever questioned how
cost effective it would be to build the library on another site as compared to
the added cost of the foundation for the library addition and sugested that
the architects need to consider this possibility.
Discussion fq�owod concerningthe holidays for library employees. It was moved
by Winters and seconded by Jacob that Mrs. Philpot take the library employees
out to lunch for Christmas using fine money. Motion carried.
Seever moved and Saterfield seconded that the library be closed December 24th
and 25th also December 31st and January 1st for the holidays and a sign posted
in the library in advance. Motion carried.
Report from rules revision comet, with proposed revision of rules # 1, 5 & 7 were
submitted to the board. The board did not accept these changes and Mrs. Philpot
suggested that the board members present work on revising these rules. After
discussion ,rules #l, 5, 6 & 7 were revised. The committee will review these ChaNges
to present at the next meeting. There being no further business meeting was adjourned.
