The May meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Georgetown Area Public
Library was crilled to order by Vice -President Seever. The Board listened
to a presentation by a Canon representative about his new copier. Later
In the Meeting, the Bo.,ird voted to-purchastr the copier.out of the general
operating funds along with an extra cartridge. The Board decided to
initially charge 20y, a copy fee to the public-- a fee structure to be
::adjusted if w:rr<anted after several months of use.
:the minutes of the April meeting were apiaroveci after they were adjusted
to x•efleut th.=+t the budget meeting in C mer,on was a CTLS meeting not a
state meeting.
The finr::neial report was approved as presented with a book btilance
of .;P2,(a90.96, and an operating funds balr.nce of ;�5:..)1A.50 as of 4-30-83.
The library rel)ort ,showed April circulriti n to be 6,185--a decrease
of 4,556 .i rom 1 .-=irch ::ind a degrease of 447 from April 1982. Philpot's
fin::ancir.l report shoved total of '4'6,235.44 monies available. Philpot
;i eported tiaat tl,�e library bred started a head count survey. At the time of
the meeting, the d cily :zvera;?,e was 150 people with 2 books each.
During the CTL5 re,ort, J})cob informed the Board t!-,nt Texas would
receive 42.2 million Vor librniry construction as part of t:,e Jobs Hill

Old business discussions occupied the remainder of the meeting.
Williams staated that he ha.d been informed that city eulployces were asking
for a 7r* salnry increase r=ather th.7n the 5% we were told to budget for.
The Board decided to try to be informed wrien the budget comes before the
council.
Weir inquired how the check-out of large -print books to Stoneh.aven
was progressing. She said the Sertoma Club was willing to help. Board
stressed that whomever checks out the books .zt the library are the ones
responsible for the books.
Seever reported, regretfully, that her committee hrid not met to prepare
letters to the City Manager and City Council members pertaining to the
building program. She promised to do so before the June meeting.
Lastly, the Board dealt with revisions of the standing rules th,'It
were revised 12-62 but never voted on. Jacob had problems with rules
114.5, rand 11. The Board decided to leave Rule # 1 on library ct..rd
applicants as st^ted stressing that the grandf--Ither clause applies for
those in areas served by other librDries who had =a card previous to 12-62.
The Board decided to leave Eule , 4 on rechecks as stated for the time being

Jacob uointed out that Rule //ll on overdue notific:tion sand enforcement will

The meeting v:as then ^d journed due to the l:�teness of the hour. The
next meeting will be June 1, 1983 at 10:00 a.m.
