Library Board Meeting - June 6, 1984, 10:00 A.M.
Members present: Bonner, Elliott, McCollough, Philpot, Seever,
Sullivan, Weir, Williams
Mrs. Seever called the meeting to order. The minutes of the previous
meeting were read and approved.
Mr. Williams gave the financial report.
Mrs. Philpot gave her monthly report. She has ordered new bookshelves
for the children's reading room. The new telephone has been installed
in the back room.
Mrs. Seever requested that Parker McCollough go to the City Council to
confirm the ordinance about delinquent books and how to enforce it.
Mrs. Seever asked Mrs. Sullivan if she would organize a committee to
have an Open house for the opening of the children's reading room.
The committee will announce the date. .
Mrs. Seever asked the Board's permission to pay the $25.00 to join the
Downtown Georgetown Association. Mr. McCollough moved that this be done.
Mrs. Weir seconded the motion. The motion passed.
Mrs. Weir has talked with Mrs Nancy Bingham, President of the "Friends
of the Library." Mrs. Weir will attend to seeing if this group wants
to reorganize.
Mrs. Seever, Mrs. Philpot and Mrs. Kay Brown attended a CTLS Workshop
on Volunteers.
Mrs. Seever requested that Mrs. Elliott read a letter from Jo Ann Bowline
thanking us for the lovely luncheon given in her honor.
It was decided that we, as a Board, should contact the Barcus family
who offered to pay for the display cases for the small buildings made
by their ancestor. Mrs. Sullivan moved that Mrs. Philpot write to the
family. Mrs. Weir seconded the motion. The motion passed.
The Sesquicentennial Commission would like to know the Library's plans
for the new Library. Mr. Williams suggested that we go through proper
channels to get pemission to appoint a committee made up of citizens
and board members to present these facts.
Mr. McCollough moved that we not meet July 4, but change our next meeting
date to July 11, 1984 at 10:00 A.M. The motion passed
The meeting was adjourned.
