Library Board Meeting - July 11, 1984, 10:00 A.M.
Members present: Seever, Sullivan, Weir, Bonner, Philpot, Elliot,
McCollough, Williams
Mrs. Seever called the meeting to order. She then introduced Mrs. Brenda Frizzell
who would like to organize an active new Friends of the Library organization.
Mrs. Seever asked Mrs. Elliott to write a letter to Mrs. Nancy Bingham, President
of the present inactive Friends of the Library, asking if they would like to continue
as an organization; and, if not, would they like to support or join the new group.
Parker McCollough moved that the letter be sent to Mrs. Bingham. Dorian Sullivan
seconded the motion. The motion passed.
Mrs. Philpot reported the gifts and memorials and the fact that we do not have
sufficient funds available for the new shelving on order. We could transfer
$7,551.04 from C.D.`s at Certified Savings into an account that Mrs. Philpot could
use for such purposes. Dorian Sullivan moved, seconded by Parker McCollough, that
Mr. Williams be authorized to transfer $7,551.04 from the C.D. account at Certified
Savings to the account used by Mrs. Philpot for such purposes. Mr. Williams will
purchase a $10,000.00 C.D. at Certified Savings with the remaining C.D. funds.
Mrs. Philpot talked with a man about a display case for the miniature models.
The estimated cost is $750.00, and it would be made of plexiglass.
Mrs. Seever plans to rework the card file. We need volunteers to do special duties.
Mrs. Philpot plans to have a form made up for the volunteers to fill out, listing
special skills, days they could work, etc. Mrs. Sullivan volunteered to type up
the form. Mrs. Sullivan has also volunteered to conduct the P.R. for the Library
in the fall. The Downtown Georgetown Association will be helpful.
We have made $500.00 on our Book Sale.
Mr. Williams asked for permission to move funds from one bank account into the
MMA account. Mr. McCollough moved that we do this and Mrs. Sullivan seconded.
The motion passed.
The meeting was adjourned.
The next meeting will be August 1, 1984 at 10:00 A.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Mrs. Rawleigh Elliott,
Secretary
