Library Board Meeting August 1, 1984, 10:00 A.M.
Members present: Seever, Sullivan, Elliott, McCollough, Williams, Weir, Philpot
Mrs. Seever called the meeting to order and asked for the reading of the minutes.
The minutes were approved as read.
Mr. Williams gave a financial report. He did not need to cash the C.L. The
accrued interest was sufficient to meet the cost of the new shelving.
Mrs. Philpot gave a progress report and financial report.
Mfrs. Elliott read a letter from Mrs. Nancy Bingham. She offered to help organize
a new Friends of the Library and to pass on all records and money that the inactive
Friends have acquired. Mrs. Seever instructed Mrs. Elliott to call Mrs. Bingham
and ask her to call a meeting of her officers for this purpose.
Mfr. McCollough reviewed the City ordinance concerning the loss of books. People
from out of Georgetown who Borrow books and do not return them has cast the Library.
Mr. McCollough suggested that since this situation has somewhat: improved, that we
might not take any action at this time. Mrs. Sullivan moved that we table the
presentation of this ordinance to the City Council. Mr. Williams seconded the
motion. The motion passed.
Mrs. Philpot will hire another full time worker if the budget passes. Then the
IPLibrary will remain open. Tuesday and Thursday nights until 8:00 P.M.
Dorian Sullivan asked if we might change the Board meeting time to 11:00 A.M.
Parker McCollough movedthat 11s00 A.M. on the first Wednesday of the month be
our meeting time. Dorian Sullivan seconded the motion. The motion passed.
October 20, 1984 will be Octoberfest in Georgetown from 3:00 P.M. -- 10:00 P.M.
Barbara Seever thinks the Library should participate in the festivities and
give books as prizes for children's art, etc. Mrs. Sullivan moved that we do
this. Mr. McCollough seconded the motion. The motion passed.
Mrs. Seever discussed the Christmas Stroll on December 7, 1984. Mr. Williams
moved that we participate in this. Mrs. Weir seconded the motion and the motion
passed.
The meeting was adjourned.
The next meeting will be Wednesday, September 5 1984 at 11.00 A.M.

Subject: A Report to City Council by October 1* 1984
The Georgetown City Council* at its June 12, 1984 meet-
ing, voted to make a thorough study of all present City
Committees* Boards* and Commissions. The Council will give
primary attention to facts, ideas* and recommendations
from the present members of those bodies. The purpose is
to determine what changes* if any* are needed in the goal,
functions, organization and pattern of work of each com-
mittee and of the system as a whole.
The Council voted that the Chairman of each body "submit
a written report by October 1, 1984 containing a state-
ment of its goal(s), functions, descriptionof its organ-
ization and pattern of work, and (its) recommendations."
If you have questions about this study, the report* or
your committee, please contact the City Secretary Mr. Pat
Caballero. The reports need to be in his office at City
Hall prior to October 1, 1984.
The outline inclosed should help to organize your report,
thus insuring its completness and comparability. Please
follow it so that all reports wall be most helpful to the
Committee on Committees and to the Council as a whole.
