Library Board Meeting - May 1, 1985 - 11:00 A.M.
Members Present: Marjorie Youngman, Gwen Morrison, Parker McCollough,
Verne Philpot, Dorian Sullivan, Nancy Snead,
Marjorie Herbert, Nancy Benold
Visitor: Mr. Gooch from State Library
Old Business: Mr. Gooch addressed the Board concerning the feasibility of
a branch library. He suggested that we consider the added cost of building,
staff, and duplication of materials. He also gave each member a copy of
memorandum on Disposition of Library Services and Construction Act Title II
property.
Parker agreed to contact Mr. Bobby Lewis of Ft. Worth, appraiser for Region 7,
concerning the possibility of an informal appraisal of our present library
building. It was suggested that the above mentioned memo be sent to each
member of the City Council. Parker agreed to handle this matter.
Marjorie Youngman reported on H.E.B. Foundation. She feels we are premature
in applying at this time.
New Business: Mrs. Philpot gave each member a booklet on the "Materials
Selection Policy." The Board will vote on this at next month's meeting.
Mr. Gooch reported that it looks as if there will, in fact, be Title II monies
available in 1986. (New Construction - $200,000; Add -On - $100,000). These
are matching fund grants.
Marjorie Youngman will check at City Hall and with David Voelter on the
Architectural Report of the present library building which was done several
years ago.
Meeting time has been changed to the 1st Tuesday of each month at 11:00 A.M.
The next meeting will be June 4, 1985 (Tuesday) at 11:00 A.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Dorian Sullivan, Secretary
