0 Members present: Seever, Williams, Elliott, Weir, Bonner, Philpot,
Sullivan, McCollough
The minutes of the September meeting were read and approved as read.
Mr. Williams gave the financial report.
Mrs. Philpot gave the progress report. The Children's Reading Room is now
complete in the former public meeting room. The new book stacks are here.
Mr. Bonner inquired about the Library at Stonehaven.
Under Old Business: Two articles need rewording:
Article I - Mr. McCollough moved that we omit the word "Board." The motion
was seconded and passed.
Article II, Section 3 - Mr. McCollough moved that the word "and" be changed to
"or" prior notification. The Mayor, in his discretion may appoint
a person who has served previously on the Board.
Mrs. Weir seconded the motion and the motion passed.
Mrs. Sullivan reported on the meeting of the Friends of the Library. No one came
to meeting. The Friends will call another meeting at a more convenient time for
the majority of the members and will also promote this meeting.
Mrs. Seever asked for suggestions to improve the services of the Library Board.
Mrs. Philpot reported on the Library's evening hours. This is going great, but
perhaps needs more publicity.
Under New Business: Texas State Library wants all libraries to conform to the
Attorney General rules.
The miniature historic buildings are now on display in the new clear plastic case.
This is very attractive and is being enjoyed by everyone. The Secretary is to write
a letter of appreciation to the Barcus family.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 12:00 noon.
The next meeting will be Wednesday, November 7, 1984 at 11:00 A.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Mrs. Rawleigh Elliott,
Secretary
