Library Board Meeting - December 2, 1986 at 12:00 noon
Members Present: Marjorie Youngman, Nancy Snead, Nancy Benold, Gwen Morrison,
Marjorie Herbert, Linda Davis, Winfred Bonner, Dorian Sullivan,
Parker McCollough, Verne Philpot
Architect: Greg Ibanez
Guest: Hartley Sappington, Director Community Services
Contractors: Bailey Elliott, Keith Poole, Pete Nicholson
Old Business:
1. Sign needs to be in place before groundbreaking. This can be accomplished
in one week. Groundbreaking set for Tuesday, December 16, 1986 at 10:00 A.M.
2. Greg recommended that we adopt Alternate #2 and not accept Alternate #1
of contract. He also recommended that we go with pavers rather than cement
or asphalt for parking area. He also recommended considering wood baseboards
in lobby and meeting room, better grade of fabric on walls, and larger trees.
Greg will present these changes to contractor who will give us prices. We
can then vote on said changes at January 6th Board Mtg. (Mike Smith will
be the Superintendent of job).
3. Gwen reported that the IBM money of $1,500 is in a special account. Friends
of the Library has added $1,000 to this account. Parker asked Hartley to
get with Terry and get prices of computer system. He will give us information
and decision can be made at January Board Mtg.
4. Report from Nancy Snead on applications for Director of Library Services.
Deadline is Dec. 15 for applicants. We've already received eight. Parker
suggested committee meet after the 15th, review applications, and then make
recommendation to the Board as to direction we should take.
5. Linda Davis reported on user fee. She is still gathering information and
will make a report at next Board Mtg.
Meeting adjourned at 1:00 P.M.
