GEORGETOWN PUBLIC LIBRARY
Library Board Meeting - July 7, 1987 at 12:00 noon
Members present: Parker McCollough, Gwen Morrison, Nancy Benold, Linda Davis,
Judy Duer, Marjorie Herbert and Nancy Snead
Guests: Greg Ibanez, Hartley Sappington
New Business:
I. Greg suggested we lower the courtyard wall from 61811 to 4181, - this was approved.
Greg showed inside and outside paint;sambles- they were approved. He reported
that the contractors were working on schedule.
2. Linda Davis suggested we give more attention to the landscaping of the courtyard.
She, Judy and Greg will work on some ideas.
3. Grand Opening plans will be made by Nancy Snead, Gwen Morrison and Marjorie Herbert.
Set for the second weekend in October.
4. Parker suggested we have an amnesty program allowing the month of August for
books to be returned at no cost! Approved.
Judy suggested we select the Mayflower moving company's bid for moving shelving.
Marjorie made the motion, seconded by Gwen, approved. Judy further recommended
that we "job out" part of the collection to MARCIVE Company. About 1/7 of our
collection is missing. Marjorie made the motion, Nancy Benold seconded,
Board approved.
6. Parker reported that several organizations are interested in using our meeting
room. We will decide at next meeting about user fee. Judy will give a report.
7. Marjorie suggested that all the clubs in town be contacted about making donations
for books, trees, benches, etc. Marjorie will draft a letter for next meeting.
8. Linda recommended that Judy contact surrounding libraries to see if they want
any books that we are weeding out.
Meeting adjourned at 1:00 P.M.
