I hope that some of the members of the Men's {harden Club will become interested in this project when You propose it at your July meeting. What we have in mind is a long range plan, a master plan, to increase the usefulness of the courtyard space. The plan need not be complex but should be as low -maintenance as possible, perhaps_ including some patio area as well as grass, shrubbery and benches. Also, the plan should suit the activities appropriate to the courtyards reading, eatiag lunch, outdoor storytime when weather permits, possible receptions or exhibits. However, we do not want to encourage use as a play spot ly for children or teens, nor do we want to endanger the large windows by placing any benches, moveable objects, or traffic near them. As I -mentioned to you when we talked we are not soliciting a finished project.from members of the Men's Garden Club, but only the generation of ideas and some good designs, perhaps more than one. When the library board adopts a plan it will probably be implemented piecemeal as money or donations of time and materials become available. I will be sending you some information on the physical statistics of the courtyard space soon. If there are other questions that come up about the project or if you need more information about some aspect of it please call me. Sincerely, Linda Davis library board member 863-0943
