Old Business: 1. City Council approved our resolution authorizing library staff to negotiate contract for computer system with DYNIX. 2. Judy has gone over proposed budget with Bob Gaylor and made some modifications. Maintenance of automation system was cut to .major items only, which should not be a problem. Book acquisition was shifted to capital expenditures which could be troublesome in the future. Final council approval of budget will be in August. 3. Value Line reference materials have arrived, and Standard and Poor's Business reference collection has been ordered; both purchased with GTE grant money. 4. Rocks have been removed from courtyard walkway. Board agreed to get estimates on filling gap with concrete. 5. Don Schmidt of the Men's Garden Club will present request for courtyard design to garden club members at their August meeting. New Business: 1. Board approved Judy's request to purchase set of children's biographies with United Way funds. 2. Jim Richardson of Dallas will conduct the CTLS workshop on fund raising at our library later this month. 3• The Humanities Resource Center has a moving exhibit on censorship available. Discussed censorship policies as they relate to our library. 4. Judy shared a very complimentary letter received from Literacy Council staff concerning service of our library staff. 5. Story hour is almost too popular. ;with the good news of many new library cards issued comes the consequent problem of noise and logistics of reading to so many children and then checking out books for them. Next year's program will be revised. NEXT BOARD MEETING WILL BE AUGUST 2, 1988, at 12:00 NOON IN THE LIBRARY.
