Present: Jean Marie Mendez, Pat Ball, Morton King, Judi
Shanklin, Mary Beth Huba, Tomi Spence, John Duer, Tresa Long, Mary Pat
McLaughlin, Hartley Sappington, Robert Horick (arrived late).
The meeting was called to order at 12:15 p.m.
1. Outgoing Chairperson Nancy Snead proposed that the current
slate of officers be retained, moving Mary Beth Huba from Vice Chair
to Chairperson, and adding Jean Marie Mendez as Vice Chair, leaving
Judi Shanklin as Treasurer and Tomi Spence as Secretary. Morton King
seconded the motion, which carried unanimously.
2. Morton King moved that the minutes of the previous meeting
be approved. J. M. Mendez seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
3. Judi Shanklin announced that the Treasurer's report would be
presented at the February meeting.
4. J. M. Mendez moved to approve the concept of the donation
policy. M. King seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Robert Horick arrived at 12:30 p.m.
5. Mary Pat McLaughlin proposed that - as Thanksgiving and
Christmas fall at the end of the week in 1992 - the library be closed
on the Saturdays immediately following those holidays, as well as
Saturday, July 4. The Board agreed with this suggestion.
6. Mary Pat reported that the library will be advertising for
someone to replace former staff member Peg Honeycutt, who resigned in
December. Until that time, the library is seeking temporary help, and
is assigning many of Peg's duties to current staff members.

service to the Board, and for her hospitality

The meeting adjourned at 12:40 p.m.
