Martin Beeman moved to accept the minutes as circulated. Jeff Kilgore seconded the motion and the minutes were accepted. The Board had received a request from GISD to waive the policy which restricts groups from using the meeting room more than once a month and to also waive the rental fee for the Hugs for Kids, a parent educa- tion program of Georgetown ISD. Tresa maa6 the motion to waive the once a month use of the room and the fee. This motion was seconded by Martin. The motion passed. The schedule of GISD's use of the room had been compliled with the help of Mary Pat and will be for twenty meeting times. In reviewing policies, Pat suggested that all Board members read over these and reported that they were no complaints at this time. Mary Pat discussed with us the problems that the public use computers are still presenting to the staff. The problems are with students playing around and could be considered vandalism. It has made the computers require professional help to rid them of virus, passwords, etc. Mary Pat would like to restrict the use of the public computers to information only at this time. Jeff will look into a simple type program of word processing that would be practical for our use. With the arrival of our reference library later on, more help could be given to potential users and perhaps once again allow more freedom. Pat announced that the Long Range Planning Committee will meet Oct 16 at 6:30 with Rebecca Pfeister as Chair. Others on the committe are Jeff Kilgore, Amy Anderson, Martin Beeman and Nelda Burson. All Board members are welcome to attend any of the meetings. Letters have been sent to GISD, City Council requesting a member from those groups. Also Tomi Spence will serve on the committee as a past Board member. Four staff people shall also be on the committee. A report of plans is due to the Board on May lst.
