The meeting was called to order by Chair Tomi Spence.
Pat Ball moved to accept the minutes as written and Jeff I`ilgore seconded
the motion. Jean Marie Mendez abstained from voting as she was unable
to attend the last meeting. The motion carried.
Most of the meeting time was spent listening to Don Martin, a Public
Affairs Representative for Dell Webb, who told us about Sun City and
showed slides of other Sun Cities. He said that the one proposed for
Georgetown would have a hill country look using lots of limestone, wood
and some stucco. Presently 18,000 people have expressed interests in
buying a Sun City home here. He described life styles of many Sun City
residents but did not know exactly how our library should prepare for
these new clients. He did say that the company has another representa-
tive more familiar with the cultural needs of the people and that he
could arrange to have her visit with us at a later time.
Pat Ball moved that the Gift Funds Report be accepted and Amy Anderson
seconded. This encluded undesignated donated funds from 1987-1990 in
the amount of $1500 and book sale receipts 1993-94 in the amount of
$1012. Also this encluded a proposed purchase of public use computer
with CD-ROM for children's area at $2200 and educational software for
children's computer totaling $300.
Mary Pat reported that she will be able to hire one full time person with
benefits.
Mary Pat also said that Nancy Biggs represented the Friends at a fundraising
event at Dell Pickett School. The students donated $333 to the Friends for
the Kid's Computer.
Nelda Burson moved to adjourn the meeting and Jean Marie Mendez seconded.
