MONTHLY REPORT
LIBRARY SERVICES DIRECTOR

BUILDING
The replacement window in the back of the building was broken as
they installed it. Another is on order.
The circuit breaker fox.- the computer room air conditioner had a
problem which caused it to melt itself tc the main panel. B & S
Electric believes the :3anel was a spacial order, which will take
longer to replace. We are w,�;_chin the carefully for other
signs of problems.
We have felt understaf3ed since all the Teen volunteers and JTPA
students have finish their terms. Books .:'low have to sit on the
trucks longer before t{ley are. reshelved.
ADMINISTRATION
Peg and I installed an update to the. Dyni% software on Saturday
and Sunday August 18 & 19. This new revision adds the capability
to mark titles as you oearch the catalog and print a list at the
end of the session. I}_ is currently available on staff terminals
only, but could be available for patrons :'.f we add a printer at
the public terminals.
At the end of September., we will be installing a revision to the
Ultimate operating system for the Dynix computer. Both of these
revisions are free as part of our basic maintenance unless we
require special help.
The Library is the second city Department to have a records
inventory prepared by the Records Management Intern in
preparation for a city --wide record retention policy.
The Water Department requested our help in handling continuing
educatio.n reading for their people. They will purchase materials
to be added to our collection and circula-ed like regular
materials. Out of towxi employees will re, -give cards to be used
for these materials only.
CTLS used our meeting -room for a workshop on computer cataloging
for other area libraries. Judy Duer was the instructor.
COLLECTION
We received another donation in memory of Barbara Seever.
CTLS gave us a $600 year end bonus to spend on books. We spent
it the day after we were notified, using a list we had prepared.
PROGRAMMING
Pre-school story hour will resume September 5.
FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY
The next regular meeting will be September .9. Be sure to attend
the Friends' Mystery Night October 4, 5 cr 6.
The Friends received $255 from the benefit honoring Barbara
Seever held on August 19.
