The tribute will begin shortly after 6:00 p.m. and will take no more than 15 minutes. The Commission may leave after the tribute. Do not feel obligated to sit through the remaining meeting. Previously, Council Member Steve Fought asked the Mayor and City Secretary to put together a proclamation to Dan in honor of his exceptional contributions, on many levels, to the Community of Georgetown. A proclamation was prepared with plans to present to Dan during the last City Council meeting, but due to some medical issues that Dan was having, arrangements were made with Dan and Mrs. Bonner to come into their home to present the proclamation. Mayor Ross and Mr. Fought presented the proclamation. Keith Hutchinson and Beth Wade, from the city's Communication Department, were present to take pictures and write a story. Since the proclamation was presented, another member of the Communications Department, John Njagi, has conducted separate interviews/filming with Council Member Steve Fought and Gene Jantzen. All this is going to be presented at the beginning of the City Council meeting on November 131h — story, filming — and I hope that each and every one of you will be present to show your support. I am uncertain as to whether or not Dan and Mrs. Bonner will be present at the City Council meeting. I will be checking with them later today — at the moment, Dan is unaware that this recognition will be occurring on the 13th. It may be that the Bonner's will be watching from home. Hope to see each of you at City Council on the 13th Linda f inda'White Office SpeciaCtst Georgetown City Had 113 East 811 Street Georgetown, Texas 78626 (512) 930-3652 (512) 930-3659 - Fax linda.white@georgetown.org Linda White From: Shelley Nowling Sent: Thursday, September 27, 2018 10:48 AM To: District4; Mayor; Cc: Keith Hutchinson; Jackson Daly; David Morgan; Linda White; John Njagi Subject: RE: Filming Dan Bonner Proclamation Hello all, This is the follow-up for the Dan Bonner Proclamation. Thank you Keith and John for clarifying the filming challenges and solutions. Dr. Bonner and his wife were delighted with the idea of receiving the proclamation at their home. Dr. Bonner's mobility is very poor and they were truly grateful for this option. After learning of difficulties in filming the proclamation presentation, within a home, we have come to a good alternative, thanks to our Communications Team. We are hoping to have Mayor Ross and Councilmember Fought present the proclamation to Dr. Bonner at this home on October 16t' (any time after 3:30 PM). Beth or Keith will take professional photos of the event. John Njagi will then invite the Mayor, Councilmember Fought and Gene Jantzen (Chair of the Commission on Aging) to say a few words about Dr. Bonner in the City's film studio. John can then put together a professional tribute video to Dr. Bonner. The video will be shown at the November 13th City Council meeting, with the Commission on Aging members and others in attendance. Mayor and Councilmember Fought, please let me know if the afternoon of October 16th works for you for presenting the proclamation at Dr. Bonner's home. We planned for Mayor Ross to present the proclamation to Dr. Bonner at an October City Council meeting. It turns out that Dr. Bonner has been hospitalized for sometime with a difficult bone infection. He was released just late last week and is facing along recovery, and his mobility is very compromised. Mayor Ross and Steve Fought thought it would be nice to present Dr. Bonner with the proclamation at his home and film it. We would then show the film of the presentation at the November 13th City Council meeting during the proclamation section of the agenda. Dr. Bonner was a key contributor to the start of the City's Commission on Aging and we will invite all of the members of that advisory board to attend the meeting. I wanted to check your willingness and availability to film the presentation of the proclamation at Dr. Bonner's home sometime in October. The following are the days that the Mayor and Councilmember Fought are out of town. Please look at your calendar and we can coordinate a good date for filming the proclamation presentation and then check Dr. Bonner's availability. Mayor Ross October 3 —15 October 24 - 26 Councilmember Fought October 9-12 October 23-29 Thanks you very much, John!
