Home My WebLink AboutRES 022426-5.B - Cancellation of Elections for Districts 2 and MayorRESOLUTION NO. 0ZN 2(-5-S A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, ADOPTING ORDERS DECLARING DISTRICT 2 AND MAYOR UNOPPOSED CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATES ELECTED AND DISTRICT 2 AND MAYOR ELECTIONS CANCELLED WHEREAS, The City Council ordered elections for City Council Districts 2, 6, and Mayor for May 2, 2026 per Resolution No. 201026-5.B; and WHEREAS, The City has received certification of unopposed candidates pursuant to Section 2.052 of the Texas Election Code for the District 2 and Mayor elections as denoted in Exhibit A. WHEREAS, The City is required pursuant to Section 2.053 of the Texas Election Code by order or ordinance to declare each unopposed candidate elected to the office. WHEREAS, The City is required pursuant to Section 2.053(e) of the Texas Election Code to issue a certificate of election to each unopposed candidate in the same manner and at the same time as provided for a candidate elected in the election. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS THAT: SECTION 1: The facts and recitations in the preamble of this Resolution are true and correct and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. SECTION 2: Doug Noble, the unopposed candidate for District 2, is hereby declared elected. A certificate of election shall be issued at the same time as provided for a candidate elected at the election. SECTION 3: Josh Schroeder, the unopposed candidate for Mayor, is hereby declared elected. A certificate of election shall be issued at the same time as provided for a candidate elected at the election. SECTION 4: The May 2, 2026 City Council elections for District 2 and Mayor are hereby cancelled. The Mayor is authorized to sign the Order of Cancellation in substantially the Resolution No. 022426-5.B Subject: Cancellation of May 2, 2026 Election for Districts 2 and Mayor Date Approved: February 24.2026 Page 1 of 2 same form as attached hereto as Exhibit B and the City Secretary to attest, and the Order of Cancellation shall be posted as required by law.
