HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 07.06.1970 CC-R142 The City Council met in regular session with Mayor Jay C. Sloan presidinb. Others present were Mayor Pro -Tem Hubert Brock, Councilmen Barry gold, Joe Crawford, -Bill Ellnes, and J. D. Winninger, City Manager Leo Wood, City Attorney Joe McMaster, Williamson County Sun Reporter Skip Mills, K.G.T.N.'s Bill Buchanan and Richard Mittanck, and Eleanor Cook. Also present were Jim Rehler and Bob.Dean, interested citizens. Minutes and reports from the previous Council meetings were read and approved. Monthly Bills Motion by Gold and seconded by Brock that the General Fund bills in the amount of $2,417.63 and Utility fund bills in the amount of $26,322.81 be approved. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Bond Program Motion by Brock and seconded by Gold that the Bond Program bills in Bills the amount of $2,992.37•be paid. -Motion carried by unanimous vote. Urban Renewal Mr. Virgil Carlson, Urban Renewal Director was present and presented two resolutions for the Councils consideration. Mr. Brock made a motion that we except the following resolution;, Mr. Lanes seconded the motion. All were in favor. (See Ordinance Book No. 2 - Page 204 Mr.,Eanes made the motion that we except the following resolution, Mr. Winninger seconded the motion. All were in favor. (See Ordinance Book No. 2.- Palre 204) Harold Parker The Country Club Unit I`i was:presonted for annexation into the City Country Club of Georgetown by Mr. Harold Parker. City Attorney Joe McMaster is to re - Unit No. " view the application before the next meeting. 14:3 Closing of A.letter was read which was addressed to the Council from Wallace Forest St. Be-Lvans, Mearl Leffler Jr., and Lena B. Rehler requesting the Permanent tween 7th&8th closing of Forest Street between 7th and 8th Streets. After discussion Mr. Eanes mode a motion and second,! by Crawford that the above street remain closed. All were in favor. Selling of Another letter was read to the Council concerning the selling of the East half of East half of block 43 from the Belford sucessor and the West half of the Block 43 block from Georgetown Railroad. The East half in the amount of 65,967.00. Georgetown Railroad did not have a price submitted. This property to be used for a police building or future city facilities. Offer good until August 1, 1970. It was tabled after discussion. Tranquilizer !Memo was read to the Council from Chief Masur Jr. about a tranquilizer Gun gun to control the dog problem. No action was taken -on the matter. Police Chief A letter of resiffnation was read to the Council from Police Chief Resignation Frank Masur Jr. effective July 15, 1970. City Manager Wood was advised to start taking applications for a new chief. Taxi Service A letter was read by Mayor Sloan from Clara G. Williams pleading to the -City Council for a taxi service in Georgetown. The council agreed but had no solution to the problem. W. 1I. Mullins A bill was submitted to the Council from W. 11. Mullins Engineering Cly Bill Co. in the amount of$6,661.62 for engineering fees performed on a recent O rate study and work done on the new 500,000 gallon water tower. $1,750.00 was deducted from the bill as a payment on the first statement V for Mr. Mullins work leaving the total of Mr. Mullins first bill to the City in the amount of $4,911.62.
