DIRECTOR'S MONTHLY REPORT

November 2007
HIGHLIGHTS
• The library had its first fire drill on November 8. All concerned were pleased with the orderly
evacuation that took place, but it was also an opportunity to identify problems needing
resolution. One issue, communication among staff members who are responsible for the
evacuation, was resolved by purchasing walkie talkies, which are now kept at the circulation
and reference desks.
• The third event in the Friends of the Library's Hill Country Authors series took place on
November 9. Two hundred people bought tickets to hear Susan Wittig Albert speak.
• Reference Librarian Suzette Davidson arranged for volunteer Jim Minson to teach two two -
session classes during November, one in basic genealogy and the other in using the Internet
for genealogical research. The classes were full.
• Richard Groves, Adult Services Librarian, arranged for volunteer Dan Tannenbaum to teach
Computer Basics I and II during November.
• For Children's Book Week, Mr. Johnny & Sharon entertained the storytime set on November
15.On November 14 the children took a field trip to Windsong Farm where they spent several
hours watching rodeo -type activities.
• Richard Groves inaugurated his Movie'Ciub, which meets twice monthly. He had a good
turnout on November 15 for the showing of "Pieces of April."
