DIRECTOR'S REPORT:
Director Lashley reported that the library was fully staffed except for the position that
was held by Dixie Hanna. A public services position will be filled to replace Dixie
Hanna. It is not known whether staff member Jennifer Compton will be returning after
maternity leave. The library will attempt to fill an intern position, preferably a UT
student, to help with cataloging during Jennifer's absence.

• On 13 December, the Friends of the Library gave a luncheon for library staff
• The Library Foundation will sponsor the library's first birthday party on Saturday,
January 19.
• The library obtained county approval to use their parking lot for library special

• Instead of mailing library cards and information about the library to new
members, they are now being given to patrons the day they register.
• Activities taking place in meeting rooms will be posted at the entrance to the
room as well as being posted on the library web site.
® Computer training classes for the public are being well attended.

® There will be new effort in Texas to establish local partnerships to supplement the
lackof funding.
® The library has had two meetings with GISD's Gwen Davis about establishing a
cooperative bookmobile program. Vehicles for the bookmobiles will be furnished
by GISD.

annual Georgetown Reads' program. Richard passed out ballots that listed the six books
selected and explained to the board how the ballots will be distributed around
Georgetown and how they will be collected. The last day to vote is February 15.

December 2007
HIGHLIGHTS
Hannah Moore joined the staff December 17 as a library assistant. She previously had been
working for the library as a temp on call. Except for Dixie Hanna's vacant part-time position,
the library is now fully staffed.
At the annual City Employee Recognition Luncheon on December 7, Jennifer Compton was
named the library's Employee of the Year. Jennifer is a librarian who catalogs most of the time
but also spends some time at the reference desk. She also writes the Baffle the Bookworm
column for the Williamson County Sun.
The Friends of the Library gave an appreciation luncheon for the staff on December 13. The
Red Poppy Coffee Company catered event which the staff attended in two seatings. Members
of the Friends executive board were present at both seatings so that they could become
acquainted with all of the staff members.
