Moore STAFF IN ATTENDANCE* Eric Lashley, Hannah Moore and Richard Groves OTHERS IN ATTENDANCE* Judy Johnston (CTLS Lay Representative) MINUTES* The meeting was called to order by Linda Nix at 6:30 p.m. Because there were no comments on the December minutes, they were approved as distributed. DIRECTOR'S REPORT: Director Lashley reported that the library was fully staffed except for the position that was held by Dixie Hanna. A public services position will be filled to replace Dixie Hanna. It is not known whether staff member Jennifer Compton will be returning after maternity leave. The library will attempt to fill an intern position, preferably a UT student, to help with cataloging during Jennifer's absence. He also reported on the following activities and plans • On 13 December, the Friends of the Library gave a luncheon for library staff • The Library Foundation will sponsor the library's first birthday party on Saturday, January 19. • The library obtained county approval to use their parking lot for library special events. • The library changed non-resident fees to $25 for a family and $20 for a senior family • The Library Technical Advisory Committee will meet on January 15. • On February 7, Ben Rehder will be the next author to speak in the Friends of the Library's Hill Country Authors series. • The Central Texas Library System (CTLS) will have their January 25 membership meeting at the Georgetown Library. • The CTLS Long -Range Planning Committee met in Salado on January 9 and 10. • Instead of mailing library cards and information about the library to new members, they are now being given to patrons the day they register. • Activities taking place in meeting rooms will be posted at the entrance to the room as well as being posted on the library web site. ® Computer training classes for the public are being well attended. • Latest statistics show that the State of Texas is ranked 48`h in library funding. ® There will be new effort in Texas to establish local partnerships to supplement the lackof funding. ® The library has had two meetings with GISD's Gwen Davis about establishing a cooperative bookmobile program. Vehicles for the bookmobiles will be furnished by GISD. Richard Groves returned this month to give board members an update on the fourth annual Georgetown Reads' program. Richard passed out ballots that listed the six books selected and explained to the board how the ballots will be distributed around Georgetown and how they will be collected. The last day to vote is February 15. Director Lashley introduced new library staff member Hannah Moore. Ms. Moore explained her background and gave a description of her duties in the library. Marc Parrish continued the "board member introduction period" by giving members a brief biography. Chairperson Linda Nix declared the meeting adjourned at 7:28 PM.
