J. Moore and Ruth Anne Mallory ABSENT: Allison Dolan -Hanna and Stephanie S. Sorensen STAFF IN ATTENDENCE. Eric Lashley OTHERS IN ATTENDANCE: Judy Johnston (CTLS Lay Representative) and Georgetown City Councilman Bill Sattler MINUTES: The meeting was called to order by Linda Nix at 6:30. Because there were no comments on. the January minutes, they were approved as distributed. DIRECTOR'S REPORT: Director Lashley extended the library's thanks to departing board members. • The director introduced two representatives of the Pedernales Electric Cooperative, Ms. Jeannette Baber and Mr. Shawn Brady. Ms. Baber and Mr. Brady gave a donation check for $1000 and a certificate of appreciation to Director Lashley. A picture was taken that included the representatives, director, city councilman and the board chairman. • Five new Library Advisory members will be appointed on 12 February 2008. Eric identified the new members and discussed how the new board will select officers. • The library staff will start keeping a tally of meeting room attendees. ® The library is averaging 25,700 online renewals a year. ® There have been 13,400 website reviews and book -hold orders per year. • The library now has access to the near -by County gravel parking lot to use for special events only. Signs will be posted. • The Friends of the Library had an "author's event" in early February. Author Ben Rehder spoke to the group. • Library staff member Jennifer Compton left on maternity leave. • The position that was occupied by Dixie Hanna is still open. • Director Lashley will attend the CTLS/AS1D workshop in March 2008. • The library is still in the talking stage with Gwen Davis of GISD about the creation of a bookmobile. The object is to reach out to children that do not have ready access to the library and to provide a summer program. The library will be applying for a $5,000 state grant for the bookmobile. Eric Lashley and Administrative Assistant Judy Fabry will write the application. • The newly formed 14 member Library Technical Committee met for the first time on 15 January. They will meet again on 13 February. They will discuss the preparation of a request for proposal (RFP) to obtain new library equipment grants. • During the last month, there were 7244 logins on the library's public computers. After the director's report, the board had a discussion on the best way to identify available grants and who could or should write the grant applications. Judy Johnston reported on CTLS activities and distributed to the board a CTLS single page document titled Transforming Texas Libraries.
